Dental health is a crucial part of your dog’s overall wellbeing. In fact, studies show that up to 80% of dogs over the age of three have some form of periodontal disease — a condition that, if left untreated, can lead to pain, infection, and even impact the heart, liver, and kidneys.
At Shabby to Chic, we offer ultrasonic teeth cleaning as a safe, non-invasive alternative to traditional dental procedures. Using advanced, vibration-free technology, this method helps remove plaque and tartar, reduce bacteria, and improve oral hygiene — all without the need for anaesthetic or mechanical scraping.
Regular ultrasonic cleaning not only supports fresher breath and healthier gums, but also plays a vital role in preventing dental disease and promoting long-term health.
Ultrasonic teeth cleaning for dogs utilises a specialised toothbrush that emits ultrasonic waves to effectively clean teeth without the need for traditional brushing. The toothbrush contains a piezoelectric chip that generates ultrasonic waves, creating millions of micro-bubbles in the presence of water and specially formulated toothpaste.
These ultrasonic waves cause the micro-bubbles to implode, generating tiny bursts of energy that help dislodge plaque and tartar from the tooth surfaces and below the gum line.
For dogs new to Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning, an initial assessment appointment is required prior to booking the full consultation.
During this assessment, we will carefully examine your dog’s teeth and gums, checking for any signs of infection, abnormalities, or other dental concerns. This allows us to determine whether your dog is a suitable candidate for ultrasonic cleaning.
To ensure your dog is comfortable with the procedure, we will perform a complete clean on a single canine tooth as a trial. This gentle introduction helps us assess tolerance before proceeding with a full session.
In some cases — particularly where there is significant tartar build-up — we may recommend a two-week interval between the assessment and the full consultation. During this time, we ask that you apply Orozyme gel once daily. This softens plaque and tartar, enhancing the results and making the process more comfortable for your dog. (Orozyme is available to purchase in our salon.)
Our goal is to ensure a safe, stress-free experience that supports your dog’s long-term dental health.
Our Initial Teeth Cleaning Consultation is a thorough 30–45 minute appointment, designed to give your dog a fresh, healthy smile through deep cleaning and the gentle removal of plaque and tartar.
In most cases, a full clean can be completed in just one session. However, for dogs with more advanced build-up, additional sessions may be required. Throughout the process, we’ll compile a photographic before-and-after report for your records, showcasing your dog’s transformation.
At the end of the session, you’ll also receive a complimentary tube of Stomodine oral gel to support ongoing oral hygiene at home and keep your dog’s teeth in excellent condition.
Important Information:
Our Maintenance Teeth Cleaning sessions are short and effective 15–20 minute appointments designed to keep your dog’s oral health in top condition. These follow-up treatments help prevent the return of plaque and tartar, while also eliminating harmful bacteria in the mouth.
We recommend scheduling maintenance sessions every 6 to 8 weeks to ensure long-lasting results and continued freshness.
Please note:
If a maintenance session is booked outside of the recommended timeframe, your dog may require a repeat Initial Consultation to reassess their oral health and ensure a safe and effective clean.
Consistent maintenance is the key to a healthy smile and a happy, confident pup.
Ultrasonic teeth cleaning is a preventative service and is not a substitute for professional veterinary dental care.
If your dog is showing signs of advanced dental disease, loose teeth, or oral discomfort, we strongly recommend seeking veterinary advice before booking.
